In addition to performing internationally, teaching, and composing, Rebecca Kleinmann’s career is marked by diversity and improvisation. In the words of Latin Grammy Nominated pianist and composer Jovino Santos Neto, “Rebecca plays flute with the passion of a flamenco dancer.”
For her Yoshi’s debut as a leader, Rebecca brings us her stunning Quartet featuring Spanish born Jazz pianist, Alex Conde and special guests including flamenco dancer Melissa Cruz and Brazilian guitarist Ian Faquini. Other performers include Jeff Chambers, bass; Lorca Hart, drums; and Marlon Aldana, Cajon.
The evening will feature originals by Kleinmann, Conde and Faquini, music of Baden Powell and Tony Williams and compositions written for Rebecca by the great Hermeto Pascoal.

Rebecca’s international career has taken her to perform in Brazil, Argentina, Africa, Europe and Australia including Melbourne’s International Women in Jazz Festival, Birdland in NYC and the Blue Whale in Los Angeles.
Closer to her Oakland home, Rebecca has graced stages of the San Jose Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s, California Jazz Conservatory, the Sound Room, Paramount Theatre, Oracle Stadium and the SF Jazz Center.
An explorer at heart, "Traveling in Colors" reflects Rebecca’s style as she rockets and flows between genres, leading her Jazz Quartet, playing in Duo Brasiliense with Ian Faquini, Brazilian Choro, Forró dances with Dona Francisca, Indie band La Dee Da, singing in Taylor Annointed Praise Choir and accompanying flamenco artists including dancer Melissa Cruz and singer Kina Mendez.
She released her debut album “Raio de Sol” in 2005 and has since recorded and performed with world-class artists in a wide range of styles.
