About

Life's Blood Ensemble explores the influences and inspirations that make the art of jazz and improvisation timeless. Saxophonist Rent Romus’ visionary group presents original music from their latest release “Rising Colossus”, a milestone project of musical exploration in emergence and multiple movements. Their music features original compositions drawing inspiration from the myriad influences of jazz and improvised music as well as arrangements of such masters as John Tchicai, Arthur Blythe, Anthony Braxton, and Ornette Coleman.
Rent Romus is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, bandleader, music producer, and community leader hailed by Downbeat as having "...a bold sound, unmistakable sincerity and conviction." Born in upper Michigan and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, his work on the saxophone has been dubbed “ferocious” by SF Weekly and “central to the creative music world of the West Coast” by jazz critic Frank Rubolino. Romus has recorded over 40 albums exploring music in a variety of musical settings working with musicians such as Chico Freeman, John Tchicai, and Vinny Golia. romus.net...
